1. test SK Hynix BC501 M.2 Type 2230 SSD to see if it can be used as A1708 internal SSD.
2. show you how to have MacOS preinstall on any NMVE SSD.
My testing results indicated Hynix BC501 is NOT compatible (hibernation issue) with A1708. So do not buy it!
Someone tested Sabrent Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 2242 (sold on Amazon) and confirmed it is fully compatible. The only issue we don’t know is the longevity of this drive.
