Ellen welcomed recent “American Idol” castoff Beane, who got a second shot at performing “Searching for a Feeling” by Thirdstory after he admitted he wasn’t happy with the way he originally performed it on “Idol.” He also chatted about the support he received from his small town in Pennsylvania, and a pronoun shift he made to lyrics of a Josh Groban song that felt like a small act of protest.
