Reviewing the Macbook Pro 16 with M1 Max chipset three months after the UK release, to see if this is the best creative laptop in 2022. I’ve been using Apple’s biggest, most powerful 16-inch Macbook Pro for video and photo editing and here’s my thoughts on performance, battery life and beyond, vs the original Silicon Pro.

Compared with the 13-inch model with that original M1 chipset, this upgraded notebook boasts much stronger performance. I can actually edit video with MPEG files rather than being forced to use Apple’s own ProRes standards! And edit photos in GIMP! Unfortunately the Macbook Pro 16’s battery life is also much shorter than the smaller Apple laptop, thanks to that energy sapping M1 Max. And while connectivity is improved, it’s still not as good as most Windows rivals.
