macOS Ventura on unsupported Mac – MacBook Pro 2014 old

  • by

In this video I want to show the development version of Opencore 0.5.0 which will be the patch for MacOS Ventura on unsupported Macs,

This version is not yet released to the public, so it will not appear on the GitHub website.

To demonstrate the working patch, I’m using this MacBook Pro 2014.

The latest system that this macbook officially supports is macOS Big Sur.

Unfortunately the development of the patch for MacOS Ventura is difficult, as a lot of window management code has been rewritten by Apple.

On macOS Monterey, the patch development process was much simpler, as the base of the system is basically the same as BigSur.

So we have several challenges ahead, for example the macs that support Metal still don’t have graphics acceleration working.

And there is still no short-term solution, as it will still be necessary to decide whether the kext files referring to the graphics chips will be adapted from the old system to Ventura, or if the system framework will be modified,…
